Code Rescue
A cozy coding game: an AI made Code City forget how its own code works – and the city went dark. Find the bugs, close the gaps and bring it back to life with real code, line by line.
The story
Code City stopped working.
An AI promised to take coding off everyone’s hands – and over that, the city forgot how its own code even works. Streets lie still, lights are out, whole quarters are frozen. The code is still there. It is just broken.
Your job: get it running again.
You do not write programs from scratch. You repair. A wrong arithmetic operation here, a missing condition there, a gap you close – small, real edits to real code. And with every line that runs again, a piece of the city wakes up: lights come on, fountains flow, colour returns.
Coding that does not feel like homework.
Code Rescue is peaceful. No time pressure, no failing, no high-score chase. Just you, a puzzle you can actually understand, and a city visibly grateful that you figured it out. Beginner-friendly enough for your first line of code – and honest enough that you really learn something.
What to expect.
Real code, gently dosed
You work with real code, but in manageable portions: find the bug, fill the gap, get the condition right.
A city that blooms with you
Every bit of progress visibly turns the world from grey and silent into alive and colourful.
Cozy instead of demanding
No stress, no failing. Learn at your own pace.
A stance, not hype
A calm counterposition to the "AI does everything for you" promise.
From the game.
The AI sphere above Code City – $ai->understand(); // ???
The AI in dialogue: "It was me. I think I broke this place. Damn."
C level – terminal hall, the elevator leads on to PythonBeach
Assembly level – knowledge board "History of Assembly"
C level – code boards boot.c and core.c
Assembly level – interior with elevator
Stance
Because nobody understands it for you.
Code City collapsed because everyone relied on the AI to sort it out. That is no coincidence, that is the idea behind it: AI is a tool – not a substitute for grasping how something works yourself.
